I bought this bike while in Iraq with the army. The bikes great, all it had was cosmetic damage which I fixed, and painted. It has a California salvage title (different than mass salvage, for parts, title because it was registered before i bought it up to 2008). I now need to register it in Massachusetts, and forsee a hassle with the DMV. Do i have anything to worry about? I didnt have to buy any parts and did all the cosmetic work myself..and it will pass inspection with no problem. Is there anything i need to know before going through the DMV process of registering it..insurance shouldnt be a problem i had it insured before but not registered.
please answer if you can really help me!..the term salvage DOES mean a lot, especially in MA, and NY where i previously tried to register this bike and came across a lengthy process because of the salvage classification, (dmv salvage inspection, verification that all replacement parts arnt stolen by receipts, etc) im really wondering about MA though..anyone with experience in this state?
The term 'salvaged title' does not affect anything that pertains to the DMV registering your vehicle. It does show up on your title as a salvaged title and your insurance company will know as well because they have record of your title as well. There is nothing you can do to "clean" a title no matter how much work you put into the vehicle whether it be cosmetic or mechanical. As long as you have insurance, you will be able to register your vehicle. I actually purchased a salvaged title, not by choice, and haven't had any problems with insurance or registration. I have only had problems with the vehicle
So no worries! No matter what part of the vehicle is salvaged, if you did not know you purchased a salvaged title vehicle and the dealer did not disclose this information, you have a valid lawsuit my friend.
